Town Hall Meeting 13 June 2013

A sprited, energetic town meeting was held at the RBV clubhouse this evening. The small group oriented session brought lots of ideas, but no solid direction or leadership from the attendees.

More Sadness

Once again we are saddened to announce the passing of a Rancho Buena Vista resident. Bernard Benjamin passed away this morning (9 June) quietly at home with his wonderful wife June at his side. Bernard battled serious health problems the past few months with grace and courage. We will miss this wonderful English gentleman.

Dickey's is back!

If you haven't received your tickets for this coming Saturday night's dinner you might be too late! Dickey's BBQ is once again catering dinner on 15 June. Social hour is at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6pm. Early birds will most likely be in place by 3pm. :-)

Sad

It is with much sadness that we report the passing of much loved, long time RBV resident Margarite Baumgartner. Details are sketchy, but her death was sudden and unexpected. George remains at Merrill Gardens for now.

Margarite died on May 12th, and her memorial was held at Merrill Gardens on May 16th.

The May Lunch at The Grill @ RBV

Warning! Eating the double cheeseburger at The Grill @ RBV can be harmful to your diet.

We had another great turnout for Tuesday's lunch, with some new faces appearing. We welcome new team members Pat Satre and Fran Murphy.

New volunteers are welcome. We need more depth in case one or two of us can't make it. Please call Frank Cowan at 805.287.9676.

The June lunch will feature pepperoni pizza slices from Costco, salad, chips and soft drink for only $3.00. Our regular menu will also be available.

Bon appetite!

It's Open!

Thanks to the great work by an excellent company and to great RBV management, the spa is once again in operation! Just in time for great weather...

Monday, April 29, 2013

This just in....

From unofficial sources: the spa should be ready for dippin' Tuesday, 30 April.

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Will it be ready?

The Spa Homies want to know! It doesn't look good for a Monday opening....or maybe even a Tuesday opening. One thing I've learned working with contractors, mechanics, stereo installers and similar craftspeople: always double the time they give you. Triple it to be safe.

Spa Work/Golf Course Open

Thursday, 25 April:

Work has begun on resurfacing the spa. It is expected to re-open 29 or 30 April.

Three golfers took advantage of the nice weather and the newly re-opened course:

Oh no! The spa is closed?

The managers advise the spa will be closed starting Wednesday,  24 May for resurfacing. What, they can't do that with water in the spa? Jeez. Kidding.

The spa is expected to reopen Monday, 29 May.

The good news is the spa will look even better.

On another note, it looks like the golf course will be open Thursday, 25 April - just in time for the duffers to duff!

Light Crowd - Informative Speaker

A senior administrator from Dignity Health's Marian Med Center spoke at today's HOA meeting. She addressed changes in the ER, nursing, and other issues at the hospital. She was an excellent, informative speaker and took good questions from those in attendance.
Unfortunately, no one addressed the Donkey In The Room: the effect of ObamaCare on our medical system. Oh well, maybe next time.

Thanks to the HOA Board for arranging for this great speaker.

And now the nooz....

Here's the latest from the manager's office, written by Frank Cowan:

Line dancing is coming back! Look for more information, but rumor has it the dancing will be twice a month and feature other types of dances, too.

Although a great majority of residents keep their lawns in excellent shape, a very few don't. This has a very negative effect on their neighbors and the entire park.

Management encourages everyone to maintain their lawns and homes - it's good for all of us. It is especially important to those who are trying to sell their home and get the best price possible.

There are currently seven homes for sale, and three about to come on the market. Asking prices are somewhat higher than in the past. Sellers will get their best deal if the park looks great.

The golf course is closed until 22 April for regular maintenance and golf course stuff. Our hearts go out to the duffers as they must travel to other courses to get their fix. :-)

What looks like dog poop isn't...

And finally, despite many pleas, some residents and visitors refuse to look at their speedometers as they SPEED through RBV.

It seems to be a national problem: callous disregard for even the most basic of laws. 15 mph means 15 mph. It is sad that the only real solution is speed bumps. If you feel safe in doing so, politely remind these irresponsible drivers of the speed limit.
